Barceloneta – The Office of Case Investigation and Tracking Systems of the Municipality of Barceloneta in partnership with the Department of Health (DS) will carry out this Tuesday, January 19, at the Barceloneta Convention Center, free tests to detect Covid- 19.

The tests that will be administered are antigen tests, informed the mayor of the Industrial City, Wanda Soler Rosario, in a written communication.

“We have to stay alert and get tested to detect whether or not we are infected with the coronavirus. The statistics reported daily by the Department of Health reflect an increase in infections and this is extremely worrying, “said Soler Rosario.

“This is the second round that we carry out so that the people of Barcelona can arrive to take the test. Know that we will do all the activities that are within our reach to offer alternatives that allow our residents to undergo tests and minimize infections, “added Soler Rosario.

Antigen tests are processed immediately, so results are received in less than 30 minutes.

These diagnostic tests are similar to the molecular test and are administered in the same way.

They are used to detect asymptomatic cases which are carriers of the virus and in many cases are unaware that they are infected.

“We are all responsible for helping to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. For this reason, it is important that people take the tests periodically, ”exhorted Soler Rosario.

“Knowing if you are positive can help save your life and that of others.”

Antigen tests will be administered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be addressed in order of arrival. People must remain in their motor vehicle before and after the tests.

This effort is joined by the Tracking Offices of different municipalities in the northern area. For more information, you can call the Barceloneta Municipality’s Hotline for guidance and inquiries about Covid at 787-846-3045.
