Some were on the ground, inside of the prison grounds, and others were hooked on one of the gates.
These were attempts to introduce dangerous contraband to the prison, which has been closed to visits since the emergence of the COVID-19 coronavirus. The agency indicated to El Nuevo Día that the brick-shaped packages covered with adhesive tape and plastic, as well as a kind of black net, were occupied at about 6:00 a.m. yesterday, Sunday, behind an inmate housing building in the 705 institution of the Bayamón Correctional Complex.

When officers opened the packages, they found 18 cell phones with 13 chargers and nine connectors, two homemade knives, a cell phone battery, 23 cigarettes, five condoms, six packets of marijuana, and two packets for rolling up marijuana cigarettes.
There was also a pack of heroin, 11 sachets of Buprenorphine, 164 "paly" pills, three from Luter and five others whose classification was unknown.
"At the moment it is unknown who did it. An investigation was initiated," the agency said in written statements.
