A group of young people collected over 100 pounds of trash during a voluntary clean-up event on the Malecón de Guánica and surrounding areas.
The event, held on the morning of Monday, January 18, culminated with the transfer of waste to the Municipal Public Works Center, given the reality that the Malecón does not have containers to deposit them.
“The people of Guánica do not need people to sit around waiting for the municipality to do something for our people. Guánica needs initiatives like these, led by young people, and that’s what we’re here for. To support this type of activity in favor of the beautification of our town ”, expressed the volunteer of the initiative and professor of Mathematics, Víctor Enrique McDougall Rivera.
On the other hand, the organizer of the activity, Marcial Ríos, expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the support received from his fellow citizens.
“Today was a great day, a very productive one. I am grateful to the colleagues who joined in the cleaning of our beautiful bay, which for a long time has been abandoned by the Municipal Government. I ask our Guaniqueños brothers that we cannot keep waiting for them (Municipal Government) to do everything. Our town is beautiful and we are not going to let it fall into ruins, “he said.
