ARECIBO – The executive director of the Northern Region of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), José A. Rivera Ortiz, reported that several facilities are kept out of operation due to high turbidity due to the rains registered on Saturday afternoon and fluctuations voltage.

The problems in the AAA service mean that thousands of people do not receive clean water.

“Personnel makes operational adjustments to the facilities to restore service. At the moment the filter plants (PF) that are out of operation due to voltage fluctuations are: PF Mameyes Utuado, PF Frontón in Ciales and the Quebrada Arenas pump station in Vega Baja. While due to high turbidity, PF Corozal Urbana and PF Indiera Alta remain out of operation.

As a result, the following municipalities have sectors that experience interruption of drinking water service: Utuado, Jayuya, Morovis, Corozal and Vega Baja.

Given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, it is recommended to boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
