A tropical wave in the mid-Atlantic continues its rapid movement westward and according to the National Hurricane Center (CNH) in Miami has a 20% chance of cyclonic development in 48 hours and the same amount in five days. “The downpour activity associated with a tropical wave located around 1,000 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has changed little in organization in the last few hours. Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive to the development of this system over the next few days as it moves west at 10 to 15 mph over the tropical Atlantic, ”states the bulletin on the prospects for the tropics at 2:00 p.m. of the CNH.
"For Friday and more weekends, conditions are forecast to be less favorable for tropical cyclone formation," adds the report.
In addition to this system, the CNH investigates two other areas that could affect the Gulf of Mexico.
