Two inmates are charged with attempted murder


Both defendants have a criminal record for murder in the first degree.

BAYAMON – Charges for attempted murder and the Weapons Law were filed Tuesday afternoon in the Bayamón Court against two inmates.

The men were identified as Edwin William Mestre Rivera, 25, and Christopher González Rivera, 27, for events that occurred on July 24, in Annex 501 of the Bayamón Regional Prison.

According to the investigation carried out by agent Joel Correa, attached to the Bayamón CIC Homicide Division, both defendants, in common and mutual agreement, using a sharp blade, tried to kill Héctor Javier Medina Valentín, managing to inflict five stab wounds on him in different parts of the body, having to be transferred to the Río Piedras Medical Center.

The case was consulted with the prosecutor Carlos Peña, who instructed to file charges against each one for the attempted murder (art. 93-A) and for the carrying and use of a knife (art. 6.06) and was seen by Judge Rafael J. Parés, who posted a $ 300,000 bond.

Both defendants have a criminal record for murder in the first degree.
