
The eastern half of Puerto Rico and the southwest of the island were the areas that received the most rain during the near passage of tropical storm Isaías yesterday, July 30.
The National Weather Service in San Juan published this morning a preliminary report of the estimated amount of precipitation fell during the entire period that the storm was hitting the country.
The Sierra de Luquillo and El Yunque was where the most rain fell and it is understood that up to 11 inches of rain fell in the area.
Nine to 10 inches of rain also fell in the Cayey and Caguas area.
Six to seven inches of rain fell in the metropolitan area.
In the west, Sabana Grande, Guánica, Lajas, San Germán, Cabo Rojo, Hormigueros and Mayagüez received between 7 and 8 inches of rain.
In the northwest area it was where it rained the least.
