Bayamon – The University of Puerto Rico in Bayamón (UPR-Bayamón) will be holding its first Virtual Open House with the purpose of guiding those interested in knowing its academic offer, it was reported on Tuesday.
The event, which will be the first of several, will take place on October 2, 2020 at 1:30 in the afternoon. A second edition is being prepared for October 17, at 10:00 in the morning. Both will be broadcast using Facebook Live with the use of Microsoft Teams and Google Meets for support.
“We are excited to host this virtual event where young students from our high schools can be part of this western experience through technology. This, in order to explore and learn about university study alternatives and the opportunities that UPR Bayamón has to offer. We are confident that these opportunities will greatly assist you in making informed decisions about your future easier. We want to help them explore study interests to choose a university career and at the same time they can explore the possibility of choosing the UPR Bayamón as their Alma Mater ”, said Dr. Miguel Vélez Rubio, Rector of the UPR Bayamón in written communication.
During the activity, participants will be oriented on academic programs, as well as on admission processes and financial aid opportunities.
In addition, they will guide the investigative, social, sports and cultural opportunities, to which they can have access as students of the Bayamon campus.
For his part, the president of the UPR, Dr. Jorge Haddock, stressed that the event is part of the recruitment initiatives promoted by the main educational center on the island.
“From the University of Puerto Rico we continue to innovate and undertake with careers and educational programs tempered with the needs of these times and the interests of the new generations. We invite all high school students, as well as adults and professionals to participate in these two open houses, to learn about the wide academic offer we have and the great opportunities that our institution offers for academic and professional development “, Haddock indicated .
Haddock’s call was joined by the rector, who urged all those interested in completing a university degree to participate in the virtual event, as well as young people in high school who are interested in exploring the university career options available at the institution.
