SAN JUAN – US Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow announced Saturday that the United States Department of Justice has awarded $ 3 million to help combat the abuse of controlled substances in Puerto Rico.
“The addiction crisis has weighed heavily on families and communities, eroding health, threatening public safety, and claiming tens of thousands of lives year after year,” United States Attorney General William Barr said in written statements. .
The entities receiving the funds will be: the Municipality of Bayamón, the Administration of Mental Health and Anti-Addiction Services (ASSMCA) and the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation.
The funds come from the Office of Programs of the Department of Justice that will be distributed in the United States and its territories.
