Starting this Saturday, the Puerto Rico National Guard (GNPR) will assign the Covid-19 vaccination centers in San Juan, and others that are about to open in Caguas and other municipalities, to exclusively vaccinate doctors and dentists.
During the rest of the week, the routine vaccination operations of other health professionals would continue. In turn, they announced the premiere of a mobile application with a dating system to eliminate the queues and the crowding of people waiting for the vaccine.
The general assistant of the GNPR, José Reyes, reported today that doctors and dentists will be able to get vaccinated on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with their credentials at the Pedrín Zorrilla Coliseum in Hato Rey. “Starting this Saturday we vaccinate doctors and dentists with credentials and identification,” he said.
He mentioned that tomorrow they will open a vaccination center in Caguas to operate on Saturdays with doctors and dentists, and the rest of the week with other health professionals.
“We start today in Caguas. We are working with the health professionals of the municipality and we will open tomorrow Wednesday to all health professionals. We are using an application that we have developed to establish an appointment process and next week between 4 and on January 7 we will be opening Arecibo, Mayagüez, Ponce Humacao and Fajardo, “he said.
“We are asking all those professionals to give us a few days to open other centers. There will be enough centers, although of course everything will depend on the amount of inventory. We cannot open Ponce if we do not have the amount of vaccines for a continuous operation because we will be working seven days a week. On Saturdays it will be exclusively in all the centers for doctors and dentists ”, he added.
He explained that in the case of Vieques and Culebra they will carry out an operation between January 11 and January 16. “When we go to Vieques and Culebra we are going to vaccinate all the people who are in phase 1 who are those over 65 years of age or older, the health professionals and the first responders,” he said.
Their expressions emerged in an aside with the media at a time when Dr. Antonia Coello de Novello went to the coliseum to receive the first dose of the vaccine.
“My message is that the myths you read in all the media are not real when you really come to get the vaccine. The advantage of Moderna (the vaccine that was given) is that its refrigeration is as if you put it in a freezer of your home, this is basically minus four degrees, “he said.
Coello de Novello indicated that he felt fine after the vaccination. “This is like when they give you the flu. I think that if we remove our fears we don’t have the stress of getting the vaccine, which can give you a nervous reaction that can be confused with a vaccine reaction,” he said.
“I think it is crucial that you get vaccinated on time. You have to have respect for those who are working in front of people who have Covid-19. Therefore, I waited for my turn,” he added.
