The Municipality of Vega Alta continues to carry out the serological test administration plan for COVID-19 as part of the strategy of the Vegalteño Center for the Management of Covid-19 (CEVACOVID), which includes monitoring of positive cases and education on recommended sanitation practices. This next Wednesday, July 29, tests will be done at the Vega Alta Reception Center from 8:00 a.m. at 12:00 noon for residents of their communities .
The municipality also distributes safety kits consisting of mask and disinfectant gel. “Last week we were administering the tests on the indoor court of the Barrio Breñas, as was done previously in Barrio Maricao, Parcelas Carmen and the urban center, among other locations. We will continue with the clinics as the materials arrive and we announce the details via sound bus by the communities, the media and on Facebook, Autonomous Municipality of Vega Alta Official Page ”, explained Karen Cardona, director of CEVACOVID .
The center also administers an informative telephone line (787-402-4456) from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, where duly trained personnel guide the population of Vega. For her part, the graduate in chemistry Myrnalis Rivera, explained that the rapid test being performed is by taking a blood sample directly from the person's vein, unlike the sample taken from the fingertips. . “I recommend taking the sample in this way so that the validation of the results is more accurate. The rapid test helps us with screening and positive cases, the molecular test is automatically done. ”
During clinics, the process begins with attending to citizens with the recommended physical distance, taking temperature and filling the documentation and then you go to a waiting room prepared for the occasion. “Then they pass to the phlebotomist graduate nurses, trained for the process, who guide the citizen on the sample collection. The results are ready the same day, those who are positive are called and on Monday we will deliver the other results to the mayor's office, ”added Rivera.
At the end of the process, each citizen receives a protection kit with masks and disinfectant gel and receives additional guidance from Census 2020 officials. “We also have a commitment to this project and have made municipal resources available of the team to achieve that goal, "Cardona added.
