The Vice President of the Senate of Puerto Rico, Marially González Huertas, said today, Sunday, that she is satisfied after Governor Pedro Pierluisi declares a state of emergency for gender violence.
“The Executive Order to declare a state of emergency for gender violence in Puerto Rico is an advanced and plausible step in the fight to stop femicides. The Senate will continuously measure its effectiveness, while we oversee the use of public funds in the development of your tools. Congratulations! “González Huertas said in written statements.
Pierluisi today issued an Executive Order declaring a state of emergency for gender violence.
In addition, the Order stipulates the creation of a Committee for the Prevention, Support, Rescue and Education of Gender Violence (PARE).
The Order will be in force until June 30, 2022.
