With the measures implemented to avoid the contagion of the coronavirus, classes in the teaching system of the municipality of San Juan will begin virtually between today, Thursday, and next Tuesday, reported the mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz Soto.
“This school year will begin with new challenges due to COVID-19, so We will continue offering classes virtually in the Comprehensive Educational System of the Municipality of San Juan. At the Colegio Universitario de San Juan, classes begin today, Thursday, August 27. The municipal schools (The School of San Juan, the Specialized School in Science and Mathematics and the School of Sports) will begin on September 1, all virtually ”, the official explained in a press release.
The only programs that will be carried out in person, but under all controls to avoid the spread of coronavirus, are the laboratories of the Nursing Program and the courses of the Police Academy at the University College.
And, to achieve a successful semester, Cruz Soto pointed out that “the municipality of San Juan will take special measures to directly serve its students. We have established a public policy to provide direct support to our students with computer equipment, internet access, and technical assistance to ensure that everyone has the necessary resources to carry out their schoolwork. In addition, we will maintain a monitoring system to identify any situation that requires assistance in a personalized way ”.
He informed that the educational system of San Juan governs by a mission to give equitable and innovative opportunities. “For this reason, we have spared no effort to maintain the continuity of teaching, trying to affect our students as little as possible,” he said.
On the other hand, the mayor reported that “the” Early Head Start “and” Head Start “centers are scheduled to start their classes on October 1, if the state government so authorizes it through an Executive Order.”
