The Covid-19 pandemic can be overcome quickly if nations use “the right tools,” said the leader of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, on Monday.
He warned that if quick and effective health emergency measures are not taken, the pandemic will prevail for longer in the world.
“If we properly use the tools that we have at our disposal, we will be able to put an end to it soon,” Ghebreyesus said in a virtual conference in which he added that a vaccine against Covid-19 is expected to be approved later this year or early next year. .
Otherwise, according to Ghebreyesus, “then the virus could remain with us, stay for a very long period,” said the diplomat and leader of the UN world health organization.
