Without water sectors of Vega Baja, Vega Alta, Camuy and Quebradillas | government

The executive director of the Northern Region of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), José A. Rivera Ortiz, reported that the Monserrate pump station located in Vega Alta and the Quebradillas filter plant are experiencing voltage variations.

“AAA personnel work in conjunction with the Electric Power Authority (PREPA), to restore service as soon as possible. On the other hand, the Vega Baja Algarrobo well is kept out of operation due to mechanical failure in the engine, "explained the official.

Rivera Ortiz added that preventive maintenance personnel are heading to the facility to perform replacement of the failed engine.

The sectors that experience low pressure and interruption in the drinking water service of the municipality of Quebradillas are: Charcas, Margarita and Guajataca. Similarly, the sectors: Ports, Los Méndez, Camuy Arriba and Piedra Gorda in the municipality of Camuy. While the affected neighborhoods in Vega Baja are: Algarrobo and Miss Kelly. From the municipality of Vega Alta the neighborhoods are affected: Pueblo Nuevo, upper part of Mezquita and Sabana Hoyos.

Given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, it is recommended to boil for three minutes the water intended for human consumption.
