This Tuesday, November 3, Puerto Rico voted in the plebiscite “Statehood, Yes or No”. At one hour after the closing of schools, preliminary results show a slight advantage to “yes”.
With 56,443 votes counted, the “yes” to statehood leads with 57.6% (32,543 votes). While, at the moment, the “no” has 42.34% (23,900 votes).
At the time of this publication, a total of 58,701 ballots had already been counted, but of these, 2,223 were blank.
By the time the schools closed, at 5:00 pm, there were still hundreds of Puerto Ricans in the lines waiting for their turn to exercise their right to vote.
